Today, I went Ice skating at Kallang Leisure Park with my university friends. We had a great time over there and whats more, I learn how to skate although sometimes I still can't really control my speed.

However I learnt something, something deeper.

There are some little kids there who are like us, novice in ice skating, however they are not at least afraid of falling down and learn, instead they bravely fall and get up and with the courage to continue skating. Just like my friend say, when one grows up, we understand the feeling of pain and thats the reason why we are afraid of the fall. However, we can see that those kid learn to skate faster than us. They are willing to take the fall, one has to fall, to understand the pain before able to master it. One might refute that some learn without fall. But when you fall and stand up again, you realize that you are not so afraid of falling again and thus you learn faster as you have more courage to move on from there.

I fell down 5 times with quite a few bruises on the knee and ankle however I learn faster as well. What hurts is not the fall itself, but not able to get up and proceed just like in life, every fall is not a failure but the process of success.

Failure is nothing as long as you persevere because every failure, you learn not to make the same mistake. Out of a sudden, I thought of this story that Mr Yue (my sec school 1st 2nd year principal), I always thought that what he says is what we know already and he always repeated the same story during assembly. Yes we know the moral of the story however when we really met with the same situation, do we respond to it in the same way?

Story: There is a guy who walk down the road, he didn't see there is a hole, and he fall into it.

The same guy walk down the road, he saw the hole, however he still fall into it

The same guy who walk down the road, knowing that there is a hole, he still fall into it

After falling for so many times, he finally walk down the road and go around the hole

It may sound really boring and simple, but when you meet the situation, you would understand the depth within the story.

Failure allows you to learn, to learn to not make the mistake again...however it is not total failure because you learned it!
