Leting and I was already planning to fool Hwei Yee on that day. At first we started planning about using of hwei-yee's money in her bank account. So we will pretend as we are the bank administrators and calling her to update on her bank account such that she have started using her money in her bank account. However we thought it was not feasible as we are not convinced that bank adminstrators will call just because we use our money in the bank and in addition we do not have her bank account number.

Later in the day, I thought of a wonderful plan to fool her.

We have decided to pretend as searchnetworks (job agency) administrators to call her regarding jobs. Since she have send her resume to searchnetworks and is waiting for their reply, we think that it will be feasible. Leting and I discuss how we can make it such that there are no loopholes in the scam.

We went through our calling datas to see whether there are numbers that we called for numerous times and yet nobody pick up the phone and use it as our scam phone number.

Leting thinks that we shouldn't call hwei yee's number as she may recognise our company's number. Thus we decided to call her home number.

So I started calling....

Usually when I call hwei yee, we don't speak in english, we speak in mandarin... so it sounds weird to speak in english to her.

Conversation starts: (1st Try)

Me: Hi, 请问，erm is Ms Teo Hwei Yee at home?
Hwei Yee Mum: Ya, Hold for a moment.
Me: (Trying to hold my laughter)
Me: Hi Is this Ms Teo?
Hwei Yee: Ya
Me: (Thinking for what I am going to say, I cannot hold my laughter)
Me: (Holding the mouth piece away from me)
Me: (I hang up the phone)

Conversation 2:

Me: Hi Is this Ms Teo Hwei Yee?
Hwei Yee: Yes I am.
Me: Hi I am Jamie Lee calling from searchnetworks
Hwei Yee: erm Ya (very tense)
Me: (I couldn't hold my laughter again upon listening to her response... She was taken in by my scam)
Me: (Holding the mouth piece so she can't hear)
Me: (whispering) Leting help, I can't continue.....
Leting: (Taking up the phone)
Hwei Yee: He~llo? Hell~o Anybody there?
Leting: (could not hold her laughter)
Me: (Take the phone HANG UP)

Last conversation:

Me: Hi Is this Ms Teo Hwei Yee?
Hwei Yee: Ya.
Me: Sorry Our line got cut off just now. I apologise for that.
Hwei Yee: Its Ok.
Me: Yup We are calling from searchnetworks and we currently have a job vaccancy for you.
We need you to start work immediate on the coming monday so we urgently need someone to help out. You have any problems with that?
Hwei Yee: Sorry I cannot.
Me: Oh but the hourly rate pay is good and if you work overtime, there would be extra pay .
Hwei Yee: No I am not interested.
Me: And you will be paid during your training on microsoft skills
Hwei Yee: Oh I cannot, another agency called this morning and I already agreed with them.
Me: Oh Ok then.

I burst out laughing after I hang up the phone. She believed.

Later Leting called to ask hwei yee did anybody from searchnetworks called her. Hwei Yee say yes and the person was very rude as she hang her up twice (which is me) saying that their line got cut off.

Leting: So did you accept their job offer?
Hwei Yee: No, this morning another agency called and I already send them my resume and details.
Leting: Why You reject their (my) offer? Their pay is high, You know. Is $7.50 per hr. And if you work overtime it is $8.50/hr. Why You reject such a high offer?
Hwei Yee: OMG So high ah? How? Can I call them back?
Leting: How can? You already rejected her.

Leting: Ah Hwei Yee, this morning the jamie lee from search network is Yu Xuan
Hwei Yee: Huh What are You talking about?
Leting: Is Yu Xuan? You don't believe ah. I ask her to talk to you.
Me: Hi Is this Ms Teo Hwei Yee, I am Jamie Lee calling from search networks (cannot continue)
(I am laughing like mad)
Hwei Yee: ARGHHHHH..... How can you guys scam me?
Leting: Happy April Fool

I received an sms from hwei yee later in the day:

Lim Yu Xuan! Argh I didn't recognise Your Voice. Haha so interesting. I totally believed it when it called. But I was thinking this person very rude cut my calls two times! Haha thanks man.
